LDS Ministering Printable May 2018 (2024)

This LDS ministering printable is great for lesson handouts, home decor, gifts, and of course, ministering! Formerly called “visiting teaching printable handouts,” this ministering printable is a great way to give a pretty gift to the sisters you minister.

What is ministering?

We have been hearing about ministering a lot lately. I don’t know about you, but after hearing about the new changes to visiting and home teaching in general conference, we have been talking about ministering in sacrament meeting, relief society, and stake conference. And it has really opened my eyes to the importance of truly ministering like the Savior.

So what does “ministering” mean, and what does it entail?

The dictionarysays that “ministering” means that we “giveservice, care, oraid;attend, astowantsornecessities.”Elder Holland says that “The primary purpose in this ministering idea will be, as was said of the people in Alma’s day, to “watch over their people, and … nourish them with things pertaining to righteousness.”

Simply put, it means that we reach out in love.

That’s why I chose to put this “ministering” quote on this month’s printable. Sister Bingham stated in general conference that “After all is said and done, true ministering is accomplished one by one with love as the motivation.”

This is our goal. We want to reach out with love to help, lift, and bless others. Sister Bingham also says “The value and merit and wonder of sincere ministering is that it truly changes lives!” Every time I read or hear that quote, I feel so inspired! Changing lives for the better…that’s what the Savior did and that’s what we want to do.

But what if…

But what if you get your new list of sisters that you are assigned to minister to….and you don’t feel that love? Have you ever been assigned to a sister who completely intimidated you? Or maybe you were assigned a sister that really bugged you or maybe you knew she didn’t care for you? Maybe you had completely different (and strong) opinions on parenting, politics (whoa, girl, don’t go there!), or you just felt uncomfortable visiting with that sister.

Now, if you have no idea what I am talking about, count yourself blessed and just swipe down and download the printable.

But if I was a betting woman, I would bet that at some time you saw your visiting teaching route and let out a little groan.

Maybe you wondered why you couldn’t just be assigned to your church besties. Then ministering and visiting teaching would be so easy, not to mention fun. And let’s face it, you already reach out with love to those sisters anyway so it would be a win-win, right?

Well, maybe not.

It’s like the Lord wants us to be uncomfortable at times. And I don’t know about you, but I don’t like being uncomfortable.

But I also know that to get to where I need to be, in order to be sanctified and become a better disciple of Christ, I need to stretch.

So what do we do?

Well, I’m not a church authority by any means but I will tell you what I do.

I pray like crazy and do it scared.

Yep, scared. I love John Wayne’s quote: “Courage is being scared to death – and saddling up anyway.” So you and I, we minister even if it scares us or makes us uncomfortable. We’re brave, even if we have to fake it until we make it.

And we don’t forget to pray. Praying to see that intimating or un-friendly sister as the Lord sees her makes a HUGE difference. Praying for the love that you know you should feel is a great place to start.

After all, Moroni said“prayunto the Father with all the energy of heart, that ye may be filled with this love, which he hath bestowed upon all who are truefollowersof his Son, Jesus Christ; that ye may become the sons of God; that when he shall appear weshallbelike him, for we shall see him as he is; that we may have this hope; that we may bepurifiedeven as he is pure.” (Moroni 7:48)

So we pray, and then we get out there and do it. And somehow the process changes us and we become a little better for it, and hopefully we can truly help and bless just as the Savior would. And maybe that’s the true win-win. ♥

I truly hope that you can use this ministering printable in your lessons, as a gift, or for the sisters you called to minister.
